The Trinity Cert TESOL is a qualification designed for people with little or no previous English language teaching experience or training. Our accredited Level 5 Certificate for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) gives you the skills to teach students from around the world in person or online. A Cert TESOL qualification will enable you to teach both in the UK and worldwide and is accredited by Trinity College London and accepted by the British Council. Our course is delivered by highly qualified and experienced trainers and includes group input sessions and one-to-one support.

  • Length: 6 months part time (online)
  • Hours: 130 hours, including 6 hours of observed/assessed teaching practice
  • What you will learn: teaching methodology, language analysis, lesson planning, how to deliver effective and engaging lessons

 

  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Applicants must have excellent competence in spoken and written English and be educated to the standard required for entry into higher education.
  • Non-native speakers must be proficient English language users (between CEFR level C1 and C2 or above, or IELTS band score 8).
  • Aplicants must demonstrate an ability to learn how to explain the relevant features of English to learners and teach these in a communicative context.
  • Applicants need willingness to work cooperatively as a member of the training group and respond constructively to feedback from the course tutors.
  • ICT skills are essential to manage the demands of an online studying environment. Necessary skills include the ability to create well-designed worksheets on Microsoft Word and effective presentations on PowerPoint.

  • Minimum of 5 trainees and a maximum of 8.
  • 6 months part time (online).
  • 130 hours of guided learning and 70 hours of individual study time.
  • 6 hours of observed teaching practice with real classes and tutor feedback.
  • The course covers 5 Assessment Units, each addressing a different aspect of skills and knowledge to help you develop your teaching and teacher personality.

– Unit 3: The Learner Profile
– Unit 4: The Materials Assignment
– Unit 5: The Unknown Language

• A reliable internet connection.
• A desktop computer or laptop.
• Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
• A web camera on or attached to the device you will use.
• A quiet and comfortable place where you can work uninterrupted for up to 3 hours.

The course theory and content are delivered online with via Zoom. The weekly input sessions take place twice a week from 6pm – 9pm, and individual tutorials take place within the scheduled hours.

What is Trinity Cert TESOL?

A Trinity Cert TESOL course is the ideal starting point for anyone wanting to teach English either in the UK or abroad. The Cert TESOL qualification is recognised all over the world and will set you up with the knowledge and confidence you need to begin teaching.

The Trinity Cert TESOL is a level 5 qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages aimed at individuals with no teaching experience or those who wish to gain a recognised qualification in this area. The course aims to give you the basic technical skills to start teaching English within a professional environment.

Your training will be guided by highly experienced practitioners, and you will be given plenty of support and feedback to help you develop your teaching skills. You will be introduced to the relevant theory and techniques that you will apply via online lessons with real learners.

Online Cert TESOL course at ODILS

The online Cert TESOL Teacher Training course at ODILS is accredited by the internationally recognised Trinity College London and gives you the fundamental knowledge and skills to become an effective and engaging English language teacher.

You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to start training as a TESOL teacher. All you need is an excellent level English and the motivation and enthusiasm to learn.

Our Cert TESOL course is taught by industry experts with over 20 years’ experience. Through a series of online input sessions delivered on Zoom and the opportunity to teach real learners, you will study and practice a variety of techniques relevant to both online and face-to-face teaching. Our tutors offer dedicated support and guidance to help you become a certified TESOL teacher and start your teaching career.

Highlights of the Cert TESOL course at ODILS

According to previous participants, the highlights of the course were the Unknown Language unit and the Teaching Practice lessons with real learners. Trainees also enjoy the interaction and connection with their peers and with the students.

The online modules aim to reflect the changing nature of education worldwide and will give teachers hands-on practice using a variety of applications and access to an online learning environment. This experience and corresponding qualification will give newly qualified teachers a significant advantage in the employment market.

There is a strong emphasis on reflection and skills development and, as with all Trinity ESOL qualifications, there is a focus on personalisation and flexibility.
